What are you doing to build the Kingdom of God? Alot of Teens are doing great things today, maybe you are one of them. If so write us and tell us about it. If not, think about it and pray asking the Lord to give you a way to make a difference in this world, a way that will help others and bring him glory.
We can't fill his shoes, but we can walk in his steps
In this information age we live in, we are almost bombarded with it, so much to see and to listen to and to read.
It is so important that we watch what we take in and recieve so that we are not taking in trash and sinful stuff.
We all know that don't we?, but it is so easy to do even when you are not trying to.
But I wonder if most of us ever think about the quality of the information that would not be considered bad, sinful or wicked.
Is the information we are getting accurate, is it even true, people who are trying to do right and put out good stuff can be absolutely wrong even though they don't mean to be.
We need to be very wise and discerning in what we recieve, even in the "good stuff ". What does God think and say about it, needs to be our hearts attitude. And it doesn't matter who or what says different, he speaks the truth and we must trust that.
Think about this a minute, you know some great teens who are doing pretty good in their lives, oh they don't do everthing perfect of course but they're ok, and seem to be on track.
Then they start hanging around some others who seem to be ( ok ) too. There not running around or doing drugs, or spending time where they shouldn't.
But then your friend starts changing and acting different, coming up with new ideas contrary to what you both believed and knew to be true. Then the next thing you know they go off into some strange life with these people and you can't figure out what happened to them.
That's how people get into cults and strange religions, that's even how people get involved with christian cults. They start listening to lies, false things that sound good or are diffferent than they have heard before. Even religious acts that seem right but are totally wrong.
God tells us in his word all things that are true, and anything contrary to that is false.
One of the reasons Christians get deceived is that they do not know God's word, and so they don't have the truth in them to bounce the errors and the lies off with. Jesus said " You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."
And knowing the truth will keep you free as well. Another reason that christians get into trouble is that they don't work hard enough at their life in Christ to discern by the spirit to know whether it is true or not.
The Lord said in Hosea 4:6 " My people perish for a lack of knowledge." In other words, his people do not have enough knowledge in many areas of life and so they get into trouble, get hurt or perish. Their lives are wasted and many die when they shouldn't and didn't have to. They needed to learn what was true in life and live that way, but they chose not to or chose not to care enough.
Many of God's people have lost their lives because they did not care enough about them when they had them.
It wasn't that they didn't have God's word, but their leaders were not telling them the truth, and they were not following what they already knew to be true. And we all know that you can have an abundance of information, but is it correct information?
So God could say to us today, " Yes, I know that you have alot of information from many sources, but is it correct, and then do you take what is correct and live by it."
Information just for information sake is worthless, education that is wrong information is at best worthless and often deadly. It is only when it is truthful accurate information that we can do well and live as we are supposed to.
We are responsible before God to judge all things, to make a quality judgement if something is right or wrong, and to make a decision about what is right and best and live with it.
We must rely on him, on his word, and on his spirit within us to do that. He said "My word is truth." In talking to his father in John 17:17 he said, "Thy word is truth." we can rely on the fact that the written word of God is true, this is our saftey net in this world.
He said before he left and went back to heaven that he would send the comforter, the Holy Spirit and that he would lead and guide us into all truth. We can rest and trust that we can know all things that we need to and that we can discern between good and evil, truth and false. His word and his spirit will keep us on track if we will follow it.
People get off track when they rely on their own understanding and on the imput of others who are wrong. Let's be careful to not take for granted our lives, and care enough for others to learn the truths of life and live by them.
